As https://janmatexpress.com/category/%e0%a4%ad%e0%a4%be%e0%a4%b0%e0%a4%a4/ reels from heightened tensions with https://janmatexpress.com/category/%e0%a4%ad%e0%a4%be%e0%a4%b0%e0%a4%a4/ following https://janmatexpress.com/category/%e0%a4%ad%e0%a4%be%e0%a4%b0%e0%a4%a4/, a diplomatic storm has erupted with Türkiye’s open support to Pakistan, igniting a full-fledged #BoycottTurkey movement across India. Citizens, politicians, traders, and travel agencies are united in protesting what many are calling a betrayal of goodwill.

Turkey’s Pro-Pakistan Stand Ignites National Outrage

The controversy began when Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed solidarity with Pakistan, condemning India’s actions in the latest military operation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan confirmed the phone call, tweeting:

“FM of Türkiye @HakanFidan called DPM/FM @MIshaqDar50 to express Türkiye’s solidarity with Pakistan against India’s unprovoked aggression…”

Indians on social media were quick to respond, with #BoycottTurkey trending across X (Twitter), Instagram, and WhatsApp groups.

“Terrorism and Tourism Won’t Go Together” – Netizens React

Accounts like @BhartiyNiveshak criticized Turkey’s tourism department for distancing itself from the political controversy while its government openly supports Pakistan.

“It’s not about the people being unaware. It’s about the government arming our enemies. Tourism and terrorism can’t go together.”

This message has gone viral, shared by influencers and citizen activists alike.

Ground Reality: Turkish Apples Pulled From Indian Markets

In Pune’s massive APMC fruit market, apple traders have completely stopped purchasing Turkish apples, a segment worth over ₹1,000 crore annually.

“We are sourcing from Himachal, Uttarakhand, and even Iran. It’s about national duty, not just business,” said Suyog Zende, a leading merchant.

Customers too have boycotted Turkish produce, refusing to support a nation “that stands against us.”

Political Support: Congress Demands Total Import Ban

Congress leader Kuldeep Singh Rathore demanded a complete ban on Turkish imports, accusing Türkiye of diplomatic betrayal.

“India helped Turkey under Operation Dost during its 2023 earthquake. Today, Turkey sides with our enemies. This cannot be tolerated,” he said in a fiery statement from Himachal Pradesh.

Tourism in Crisis: 80% Cancellations Reported

India was among Turkey’s fastest-growing tourist markets, but not anymore. According to travel agencies:

  • 80% of Indian bookings for Turkey have either been cancelled or postponed.
  • Leisure travel demand has “fallen to nearly zero.”
  • Indian weddings, business trips, and MICE events are being rerouted to Europe, Thailand, and Indonesia.

“The emotional sentiment is deeply hurt. Indians don’t want to visit a country that supports terror or our enemies,” said Sandeep Khetarpal, CEO of Zotrav.

More Than a Hashtag, It’s a National Sentiment

The #BoycottTurkey wave isn’t just trending online—it’s altering travel plans, market behavior, and national policy outlooks. As India sends a strong message on sovereignty and national pride, the economic and diplomatic costs for Turkey are becoming apparent.
